Number

The use of a Number element on a form is a type of input field designed to accept numeric values, allowing your vistiors to enter numbers.

This type of field is typically used when the expected input is numerical in nature, ensuring that the visitor can only enter valid numbers.

Use cases include:

  • Number of Employees
  • Order quantity
  • Price or cost
  • Score or rating

Number Element Settings

Number Element Settings

Under the number settings there are various options to set.

These include:

  • Field Label: Value that is always visible to persons filling in your form
  • Field Placeholder: If you would like to specify a placeholder that is different from the Field Label, this is the place to do that, but specifying a placeholder is optional.
    • A common case for specifying a placeholder is to provide further instruction or a hint to the persons filling in your form
  • Hint: Optional light instructions, shown in smaller text beneath the field. A validation error message temporarily takes its place. More on hints
  • Field Name: The Field Name is "behind the scenes"
    • The field name is not shown to persons filling in your form
  • Map to Field: Choose the field in Paminga you would like to map this data to when the form is submitted
    • Available fields to map to will be any number standard or custom fields
  • Default Value: If you choose to set a Default Value, this field will be pre-filled with that value when the form is rendered
  • Pre-Populate This Field: Checkbox. Paminga may be able to recognize the website visitor submitting your form. When this is the case, you can have Paminga pre-populate fields with values that are already known for that person

Validation Rules

Within the Number Field Settings you can set validation rules for the persons submitting the form.

Display as a Slider

Beta Feature

Displaying number fields as a slider is in beta. It may not be turned on for your account yet. To request access, contact Paminga Support.

A Number field doesn't have to be a box someone types into. Set Display As to Slider and visitors drag a handle along a track instead, with the current value in a small box beside it (visitors can type a value there too). Sliders suit questions with a natural range: budget, team size, "how likely are you to..." scales.

Only the control changes. The field is still a Number field, so it maps to the same number fields, qualifies in segments the same way, and submits a plain number.

When Display As is Slider, three settings define the range:

  • Min: the value at the left end of the track (default 0)
  • Max: the value at the right end of the track (default 100)
  • Step: how far one movement of the handle moves the value (default 1)

On the published form, the slider starts at its Default Value if you set one. A pre-populated value outside the range is shown at the nearest end of the track.

The Minimum and Maximum validation rules disappear while a field is a slider. A slider can't produce a value outside its own range, so the range is the rule.

You can also add a slider directly: choose Slider from the list of form elements. It's a Number field that starts out displayed as a slider, ranging from 0 to 100.
